Richard Borsey
Lead Guitar, 1997-2001
Bass Guitar, 13 April 2001
It is with great regret that we have to confirm the tragic loss of guitar virtuoso Richard Borsey (33) who sadly disappeared recently on the back of a P&O Ferry bound for France.
As many of you with connections to the DDA inner circle will know, Richard had for many years, been struggling to control his whippet fondling problems.
He joined DDA in 1997, having been the only guitarist at the auditions who could keep time with the infamous ‘Burnes Brothers’ rhythm section. At first the group remained unaware of his ‘dark secret’, but suspicions were aroused when he ‘dislocated his finger’ in an alleged windsurfing accident. In a dramatic confrontation with the group, on the never to be forgotten ‘Black Tuesday’ he confessed his secret, and agreed to undertake counselling. Less than 12 months later, following a bizarre accident involving plectrums, staplers, a DI Box and assorted petroleum based products, he checked in for a prolonged course of treatment at the renowned Betty Boothroyd Clinic. Returning to the group a changed man, Farnham Herald reported that Richard had ‘turned the corner’ and was heading for a complete cure.
Ironically he was on his way to a new life in whippet free South West France when this latest and final tragedy ended his career with DDA. He leaves a rhythm section, a vocalist, a keyboard player, a sound engineer, several cats, many unfinished demo tapes, a pile of bills, and lots of badly commented code.
We will miss you Richard!
